This was a fun project requested and inspired by Cirque du Soleil, during which I had the great fortune to work with these wonderful, creative artists and friends in the beautiful Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. I am so grateful for the confluence of friends, supporters and audience members that entered that gorgeous space of music that night.

This was the first charting single for my first NY band, Capital Recording artists Desmond Child and Rouge. This was among the first music videos ever produced in NY. With its cool, quirky bass line and beautiful vocal and instrumental arrangements, DC&R was leading the trends by merging R&B and Rock before the many others that followed. Through our relationship with Paul Shaffer, keyboardist for SNL as well as for the first Desmond Child and Rouge record, Rouge was invited to join Gilda Radner for her “one-woman” show at the Wintergarden Theatre on Broadway. Gilda Live from NY! was a tour de force of Gilda’s many wonderful characters. We had a blast accompanying her during songs and sketches for this limited Broadway engagement, and we brought our guitarist, G.E. Smith along with us for good measure.

Desmond Child and Rouge wrote and performed songs and sketches and built a solid East Coast following that led to a Capitol Recording contract in 1978 and a hit song that played in all the dance clubs for the next twenty years! Check out our site: www.desmondchildandrouge.com

Desmond Child wrote and performed “Last of an Ancient Breed” for the 1979 The Warriors soundtrack. soundtrack. It is a rock song that tells a "rags-to-riches" story, reflecting the film’s narrative of the gang fighting to return home to Coney Island. The song was part of a high-paced year where his group went from obscurity to national recognition.
